Ake fell off during the match against Germany in Tuesday’s Nations League. Subsequently the match ended in a 2-2 draw. It seems to be a muscle injury though it looked severe as he had to receive on site care as well as being carried off on a stretcher. He was seen holding back on his leg.
The Dutch coach quoted- “It looks like a muscle injury for Nathan Ake, though I am not certain”
So it is unclear when Ake will be able to return to the scene. But Ake had a packed schedule for Man City. Even though Ake didn’t play full time during the past games he continued his appearances during the games.
This is not the first time for Ake to be down for his calf as he had an accident similar to this one back in 2020. Besides the calf issues he also has hamstring injuries.
On the Field
The Dutch center-back as well as left-back has made his way to the top through sheer determination on the field. Making his debut in champions league back in 2014 Ake kept on climbing and his luck changed when he joined Man City.
Ake started his Champions League journey with Man City back in 2020. By 2023 he became the captain of the team and by 2024 he became the first player to score at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium during the FA Cup against Tottenham Hotspur.
Besides his shining club career Ake played a key role in his national team. Debuting in 2017, he took part in the 2022 World Cup. In 2024 he made the squad for the UEFA Euro 2024.
