Lionel Messi marked the beginning of his return with an impressive 3-1 win against Philadelphia Union while scoring two for himself.
Despite missing the last 9 matches over the course of two months, Messi came back strong on the field, proving himself once more why he is the best of the best when it comes to soccer. Not only did he just return from a long recovery, he was on the field full time with his team leading them to victory.
Philadelphia led the game at the start of the game at 58 seconds but Messi got them back on track at 26th minute with the assist from Luis Suarez. Not more than 4 minutes later he scored again when Jordi Alba assisted him in the form of a tee up.
Messi stated after the game – “Little by little I was training with the group, feeling good and that’s why we decided that I would start, and I’m very happy.”
After the match the iconic player has 14 goals in 13 games during this season, leading his team Inter Miami in the Eastern Conference standings of MLS.
