Acciona Open de España presented by Madrid returns to Club de Campo Villa de Madrid on 26th September until 29th September. The Spanish Open is part of the DP World Tour. Here we will get to know the purse and prize money breakdown of the event.
Stars on the Course
The event is a 71 par stroke with a course of 7154 yards. Revered as one of the most important stroke play events of the European Tour, the event not only features a lucrative prize pool but also includes valuable points that are necessary to stay on the standing for DP World Tour card.
Even though the prize pool is not as much as the last flagship event BMW PGA Championship, the event offers a total of 5,000 points. Consequently the points are up for players to grab in order to secure their ranking for Dubai.
Last year Matthieu Pavon bagged his first DP World Tour title by claiming the Spanish Open title. This year he is back to defend his title. Whether he will be that remains to be seen as Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton will take to the field as they have to fill up the bare minimum of attending four events.
Besides the obvious stars we have Patrick Reed from LIV. Also we have more bigshots from PGA such as Tommy Fleetwood and Matt Walllace. Wallace won Omega European Masters three weeks earlier.
Open de Espana Purse Breakdown:
The 2024 Open de Espana has a purse of $3,250,000 which is unchanged from the last year. So no change in prize money distribution is noticed. The winner will bag the same as previous year’s champion Pavon, earning $552,500. Then the first runner up will get $357,500 while the third place taker will earn $204,750. From the bottom the 65th player will receive $7,800.
